Action Enquiry for School Improvement

Do you want to improve an aspect of teaching and learning in your school and gain academic credit for doing it?


This module supports improvements in teaching and learning through conducting teacher practitioner research or action enquiry.

You choose the topic of interest and importance to your work in your school or college. We supply the structure and expertise to guide you in undertaking a rigorous enquiry that leads to evidence based improved practice.

Some suggested topics might be:

  • Assessment and Target Setting in the primary school.
  • Developing thinking skills in year 7.
  • The use of ICT in Key Stage three geography.
  • Developing effective online learning for disaffected pupils.

The module involves online learning discussions and tutorials. Module materials and tasks will be shared using e-mail and discussed in online conferences. In addition, participants will have access to online discussion on a weekly basis. Formative work will be shared and discussed and participants will be expected to give and receive feedback on work in progress.
